funny faces

Now, I realize that a director/producer/editor has to be very grateful that actors are willing to put themselves in vulnerable positions and committed to celluloid.  (Okay, I know it isn’t celluloid anymore, but it sounds so much more elegant than “digital files.”)

And I AM grateful.  Really I am.  The movies we make are so much finer because of the realism with which our actors portray their roles.  They are at times beautiful and shocking in their openness.

But sometimes, they just look funny.  For today’s column — a few odd glimpses from Lucid!

Here we have Bill Johnson making some sort of evil creepy face.  Here’s Bill!bill bunny

These are the friends of the main character, Jake and Julia, played by Craig Angel and Megan McGregor.  In this shot they’re having an odd cutesy moment.

This is the Michael Coon, who plays the main character’s boyfriend, Kevin.  In this shot he’s responding to a direction to be more manly.

This is Felicia Stewart, who plays a nasty character called Mommy.  She makes a lot of faces like this, and we love them!mommy face 2

This is Jim Foreman who plays a guy from the past.  I’m not sure what he’s doing here.  Tasting the air?

This is Brittney Saylor, who plays the lead, having a weird-faced moment.britt mouth

And finally, this is what happens when the Sandman gets an ace in Solitaire!GREAT PIC OF SCOTT

PJ Woodside is the writer and director of  Lucid, which features Bill Johnson and will be released in 2013.  She is co-producer of Spirit Stalkers and six other movies with Steve Hudgins of Big Biting Pig Productions, and owner of PJ’s Productions.   More about PJ here.

Is there a scene you want to hear more about?  Post with questions!

I can as a first time participant in a film, say you and Steve can bring out things in people they didn’t know they had. Whether it’s the abiltiy to use equipment or give the best performance ever. You guys are genuine and real and know what you want and how to get those around you want to give all they have. My expericence with Big Biting Pig Productions was simply amazing. I can see why so many want to make this a career. They freedom of expression was great.

Look forward to your next lot of funny faces.

Just watched The Caretakers and it was great! Did a lot with a little.
    Love Brittney Saylor.
I’ll expect a gratuitous shower scene with Brittney in your next production.
